Anna V. Hergenrader - Founding Principal

Anna was born in Raleigh, NC, moved to Georgia at a young age, and has lived and worked in various areas throughout the southeast all her life. Her fascination with accounting began with her tenure as a disbursing clerk in the US Navy, while serving aboard the USS Frank Cable in Charleston, SC. Post military service, she acquired her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Campbell University and embarked on her career in public accounting.

Her professional journey began with a CPA firm in Atlanta, but soon took her back to her roots in Raleigh, to James A. Lucas and Company, LLP. She learned and grew with this firm for over two decades, the last fifteen years of that time as a partner in the firm. Driven by family commitments and a love for the coast, she relocated to Wilmington in 2016.

The unprecedented challenges of the pandemic and the amplified requirements of her clientele prompted Anna and her long time business partner Gwen Hodges to establish Hodges & Hergenrader, LLP in the fall of 2023. Anna's professional focus remains on small to medium-sized businesses and the individual stakeholders of these enterprises. She aims to optimize tax savings and bolster the financial well-being of the individuals and businesses she serves. She brings to the table 25 years of experience in public accounting, specializing in financial reporting, client advisory services and income tax planning and preparation. Her extensive knowledge includes construction, real estate rental and development, hospitality, retail, personal service industries, medical dental and verterinary practices, as well as the non-profit sector.

Away from her professional commitments, Anna and her husband Jeff stay busy with their son Graham and daughter Forbes. In her spare time, she indulges in her love of running, spending time on the water with family and friends, and is an active member of Wrightsville United Methodist Church.

Anna is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, further testifying to her commitment to her profession.
